I haven’t written about this situation in a while, though I can’t completely put it behind me. After all, the owner of Austin Mac Repair (now Texas Mac Repair) in Austin, Texas, basically stole almost $500 of mine and my husband’s money. If you would like to know more about that situation, visit the tag, Austin Mac Repair. I think we have two years to file a lawsuit against this crook, which means we have until September of this year. Hard to believe so much time has passed since our dealings with this horrible person. I reported him and his business to everyone I could think of, but so far haven’t heard anything. I know there are many negative reviews on Les, the owner, and how horrible he treats his customers.
Well, I was contacted yesterday from one of those disgruntled customers. She wants to take him to court and asked if I would help. I told her we would both help as much as we could, and I’ve always felt that if enough people got together, that we could make a difference. So if there is anyone else in Austin who got screwed over by Les at Austin (or Texas) Mac Repair, please comment here or contact me.
I’ve even created a petition on change.org that you can also sign. If I can get enough signatures, maybe the Texas Attorney General will pay attention.
Wish I would have researched before using.
We had new Apple office computers and needed help moving from Windows. Time was short and AMR was willing to come out the next day and assist us. Recommendations and upgrades were made to our existing system to “improve” it but at the end of the day(s) and $6,500.00 later we had to bring in another company and an Apple representative to fix the problems. Our system was inoperable except for the computers he did not touch.
Apple Computers states that AMR is NOT Apple Certified. They get a lot of complaints about them.
They might do a great job changing parts on an iPod but I would not want them anywhere near any of our devices ever again.
Sorry to hear about what happened. You were definitely ripped off more than we were, but it just goes to show that this crook doesn’t discriminate. He will rip off big companies just as well as individuals.
I notice the petition has closed with only 10 signatures. Shame more people don’t research before they go to him. Too bad Apple can’t warn their customers BEFORE they go to AMR.
Here is my YELP post I just wrote, I have never had some one treat me this way.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO AUSTIN MAC REPAIR!!!
I purchased a new IPAD on 5/9 and took it in for a minor crack on 6/23 ( it didn’t affect the IPAD it just bothered me since I had just purchased it) I paid over $200 to “repair the screen”. I picked my IPAD up a week later and within a few days the screen had completely separated, bottom and left side, from the base and my IPAD was acting up severely internally. Since it was under warranty with Austin Mac Repair for the screen, I took it back and they “fixed” it again, all this did was cause another piece to separate and it looked like the employee had just glued the lower left corner down with super glue. Considering the IPAD ( which is almost 4 months old at this point) wasn’t working and the screen was separating again, I took it into the official Mac store at the Domain. They took a look at it and said all the problems were cause by a faulty repair and they obviously didn’t know what they were doing. Mac printed me out paperwork to take to Austin Mac Repair to get a refund. When I showed up and asked for a refund and tried to show my paper work and the faulty job done on my IPAD, the owner ( older white guy, balding red-ish/blonde hair, heavy set) was COMPLETELY rude and unprofessional. He said he would not refund me and to get out of the store before he called the cops. After a pointless conversation of this guy yelling at me.. yes, yelling.. and telling me if I wanted a refund to take him to court, I finally left.
Moral of the story – AUSTIN MAC REPAIR IS A FRAUD WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE AND AN IGNORANT OWNER.
Also note – my fiance took his MacBook Pro to Austin Mac Repair, after having issues with it after he picked it up ( $180 to replace the trackpad, Mac does it for half the price.. I didn’t know this beforehand) we took it into the Genius Bar also.. come to find out Austin Mac Repair fixed the trackpad with SCOTCH TAPE!
Just proves what a major POS Les is to treat a pregnant woman that badly. What did the police say when you filed the complaint? That is the one thing I did not do.
They said they couldn’t do much, it was a civil matter but they could file a complaint. I am not sure exactly what it will do, but I am glad to have it on file. I also filed a complaint with BBB and FTC, I actually just received his response this morning on BBB. Apparently I was “belligerent” and “acting like I was at a bar”. Ironic. If a false character representation is the best he has, than he is more pathetic than I originally thought… he should be more concerned justifying the integrity of his work.
Like you were at a bar? LOL…well, if he is the holy roller he’s always telling people he is, then he shouldn’t know how people act like in bars.
He lied about me too to the BBB, and I responded and told them that. He didn’t respond again, so they sided against him. Though all it does is lower his already pathetic score.
